Jack Daniel’s Legacy Edition Nº 2 is a special limited edition bottle from Jack Daniel’s that symbolizes one of the first Black Label registrations of Jack Daniel’s. The original version, in the label design that inspired the Legacy Edition 2, contained a disclaimer about medicinal use, probably from the early 20th century. Some say they chose the color to mourn the death of Mr. Jack; others don’t believe the switch from green to black label had any specific reason. We may never know for sure, but we are certain that this label represents one of the first times it was predominantly black.
Jack Daniel’s Legacy Edition Nº 2 is made with spring water, which lies at the bottom of a cave more than three kilometers deep, and a blend of corn, barley, and rye. It is then distilled in a large copper still where it is vaporized and condensed just once. It is filtered drop by drop through three meters of sugar maple charcoal to achieve its characteristic smoothness and matured in barrels made in-house, to which it arrives raw and colorless. Years later, it will offer a beautiful amber color, and its rawness will turn into smoothness and complexity. It’s ready when the brand's master distillers say so, based on its appearance, aroma, and taste. This is how Jack Daniel did it over a century ago, and it is still done this way by his heirs today.
