Delgado Zuleta es la bodega más antigua del Marco de Jerez. Según se recoge en diferentes documentos de su archivo, sus orígenes se remontan al siglo XVIII, perteneciendo el legajo más antiguo encontrado en el amplio archivo de la empresa a 1719.

Es en 1744 cuando el Cargador a Indias, Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava y Regidor Perpetuo de Sanlúcar, don Francisco Gil de Ledesma y Sotomayor, inicia la actividad de esta empresa vinatera, y cuatro años más tarde presenta ante el Cabildo de Sanlúcar un proyecto para el establecimiento de una compañía sanluqueña dedicada al comercio con América.

La empresa se mantiene con los nombres de los sucesores de Gil de Ledesma, hasta que a finales del siglo XIX, Dolores Ñudi, una de sus descendientes directas, contrae matrimonio con don José María Delgado y Zuleta, marino de guerra que arriba al puerto de Sanlúcar de Barrameda y deja su carrera militar para ocuparse del negocio vinatero, adoptando la empresa su nombre y apellidos como denominación mercantil. En esa época la compañía experimenta una importante expansión, llegando a ser proveedores de la Real Casa de Sus Majestades don Alfonso XIII y doña Victoria Eugenia.
