Las Lamas 2015 is made from Mencía grapes, with a contribution of the red Alicante bouschet and the white sherry, from a selection of vineyards in Paraje de Las Lamas, a farm that Descendientes de J. Palacios owns in the area. of Corullón.
The Mencia vines that star in this fantastic bierzo are between 60 and 100 years old and grow at 730 meters of altitude, on very steep slopes. After the manual harvest of the fruits and their strict selection, fermentation in small open wooden vats and maceration for 12 days, the winemaking process culminated with aging for 16 months in French oak barrels.
The winemaking tradition of the area, its particular orography and spectacular potential led Álvaro Palacios and his nephew Ricardo Pérez to Bercian lands in 1999 to start Descendientes de J. Palacios, a winery that, from then on, would become one of the architects of the definitive renewal experienced in this D.O. in recent years.
